Breast lifting surgery is also known as Mastopexy or breast lift surgery. By eliminating breast sagging without a volumetric reduction to the breast, your breasts are both natural and upright and firmer. Breast sagging is a result of the downward displacement of both the breast tissue and the breast skin of the breast and the nipple. They are usually seen after childbirth but can be seen without gaining excess weight or due to a cause. It is possible to restore all of these negative conditions with breast lifting operations. In some cases, breast skin may be extremely flaccid, and the breast may be small. In such cases, breast augmentation along with breast lift will reveal the most natural and most efficient result.

When Should Breast Lifting Surgery Be Performed?

The patient’s preference and demand are important for breast lifting surgery. If the patient’s nipples are above the breast fold line, aesthetically everything is fine. If the breast has fallen to the level of the fold line, slight sagging has started. If the breast falls below this line, it can be said that there is severe breast sagging. Particularly the downward facing nipples are now in the stage of surgery that must be done.

How Is Breast Lift Surgery Performed?

Breast lifting surgery is performed under general anesthesia. Depending on the technique to be used, the operation time of the breast lift can vary between 2-4 hours. Silicone prosthesis may be placed under the breast in patients with slight sagging. In patients with advanced breast sagging and sufficient mammary glands, similar procedures are applied to breast reduction surgery. If the amount of mammary gland is insufficient, silicone prosthesis is added under the breast and abundance in the skin is collected in a similar manner to breast reduction technique. Breast gland removal is not performed.

What Should Be Considered Before Breast Lift Surgery?

You should have a thoracic examination before your surgery. Breast ultrasonography and mammography should be evaluated at full capacity in breast cancer patients in risky conditions or in women over 40 years of age. Stopping smoking before the operation allows you to recover more quickly and smoothly. Aspirin and anti-inflammatory drugs should be discontinued 2-3 weeks in advance. Herbal remedies or herbal supplements should be discontinued before the operation. Existing diseases and medications should be conveyed to the doctor in detail.

What Can Happen After Breast Lift Surgery?

Immediately after the operation, ice compress treatment is started, and the patient is dressed in a sports bra. No dressing other than thin bands on the stitches is used. 24-48 hours after the operation, the drains are removed. Shower can be taken 1 or 2 days after drains are removed. Sutures are removed after 15 days. It is recommended that the athlete’s bra be worn continuously for 4 weeks. This bra reduces the patient’s pain, makes them feel safer and provides support to the breasts. Postoperative edema is very normal, then the edema is discarded, and the chest shape begins to appear. It takes about 8-10 weeks for the breast to take its final shape.
